About Me

Dr. Victor Tze Leung Tsang obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto and completed his specialist training in General Surgery at the University of British Columbia. During his training, he furthered his professional interest in colon cancer screening and colon cancer surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He is both a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Surgeons and is fully licensed to practice surgery in British Columbia. 

 

Over his 20 plus year career in Vancouver, British Columbia, Dr. Tsang has performed over 20,000 surgical procedures and is well known for his clinical judgment, surgical technique and low complication rate. During his first two decades of practice, he maintained a broadly based community surgical practice including: general, laparoscopic and colon cancer surgery, colonoscopy and proctology. Now into his third decade of practice, his primary areas of interest include outpatient hernia, gallbladder, anorectal and minor surgeries, colonoscopy and acute care general surgery. He also maintains an active office based proctology practice.

 

As a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of British Columbia, he remains highly committed to medical education, and regularly mentors surgical trainees and medical students.

Over his career, Dr. Tsang has also had the privilege of volunteering in the developing world. He has had the opportunity to teach, learn and practice surgery in a variety of different cultural and economic contexts including Kenya, Honduras, Ecuador, rural Taiwan and rural China.

 

He continues to uphold a high standard of medical and surgical proficiency by keeping up to date with advances in medicine and surgery. He is a frequent attendee of the American College of Surgeons’ Annual Clinical Congress, and has been fully compliant with the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada since 2001.
